A Leap Forward in the “Compressed Gas Propelled” Journey: Lindal’s Turbo Valve
Current compressed gas systems show a noticeable difference in spray pattern and performance compared to traditional LPG systems. Lindal believes this is one of the biggest factors limiting widespread market acceptance.
Working towards the solution, Lindal has developed the “Turbo Valve” and are now ready to reveal it. They have managed to leverage their patented BAB technology for standard valve and diptube application. Due to this, it is now possible to inject a controlled stream of compressed gas into the product flow within the insert itself.
This significantly improves the mechanical break up effect on the spray pattern through to
the last spray. The icing on the cake being that the filling process remains the same as a standard valve.
- 10:10 - 10:30am
Jonathan Gawtrey, Product Development & Innovation, L’Oréal and Jean Blottiere, CEO, Comité Français des Aérosols CFA
The French Aerosol Market: Landscape, Innovation and Future Potential Pathways

Session 2
- 11:00 - 11:20am
Olga Munroe, Head of the Retail Institut
Shaping a Preferable Future in the Packaging Sector
This session will provide an outline of an initiative led by the Retail Institute – The Collaborative Industry Group for the Future of Packaging. Brands, retailers, packaging companies and trade associations, including BAMA, joined a collaborative group led by Professor Jeff Gold and the Retail Institute to map the “wicked problem” of sustainable packaging. The Futures & Foresight methodology, often used by policy-makers, was a moderation technique used for the group.
The creative thinking process about probable and possible scenarios helps leaders transform their thinking and organisational learning. Working across the supply chain brings a unique opportunity to see how change can be implemented across various societal actors.
- 11:20 - 11:40am
Dr Henry Irving, Senior Lecturer in Public History, Retail Institute
Looking Back for Lessons about Reducing Waste
This talk will look to the past for lessons about reducing waste. It will show how packaging and consumer products have evolved, and consider the impact of past attempts to reduce waste and increase recyclability. The talk will draw on examples from 200 years of history, spanning early tins to modern aerosols.
- 11:40 - 12:00pm
Dr Michael McCulloch, Scientist, Alloway UK Ltd
New Developments for Improved Safety and Quality on Aerosol Production Lines
In this presentation Michael will discuss Alloway’s new aerosol inspection solutions that improve the quality and safety on aerosol filling lines. These solutions include high speed fill level detection, empty can pressure testing and crimp/clinch checks.
- 12:00 - 1:00pm
Lunch
Session 3
- 1:00 - 1:20pm
Abhay Bhagwat, Managing Consultant, Packaging for the Future Ltd
Zero-based Design
Zero-based design takes a first-principles approach to packaging, challenging conventional wisdom and uncovering fresh insights to inform the design process. It is a straightforward yet powerful methodology that systematically deconstructs packaging, stripping away unnecessary complexity to reveal its essential elements.
By questioning often subconscious assumptions, it leads to the most refined and efficient packaging solution, tailored to specific consumer, brand and technical requirements.
Zero-based design delivers consumer-preferred, brand-relevant, commercially viable and sustainable packaging solutions. Crucially, it is a source of competitive advantage – because almost no one does it.
- 1:20 - 1:40pm
Paul Sullivan, Managing Director, DH Industries Ltd
CO2 Propellant Handling and Filling
This presentation will explore the role of CO2 as a propellant and how it can be handled and filled safely and effectively. The different and novel filling techniques will also be explained.
